Emilia Roig, Soya the Cow
Author reading with Emilia Roig
In addition to her talk with Mandy Abou Shoak, Emilia Roig will read from her work Lieben as well as several passages from her new book LIEBER SOHN oder So rettest du die Welt, which will be published this October. The evening will be moderated by Tanzhaus collaborator Daniel Hellmann aka Soya the Cow, whose own piece De-Domestication will be presented in the same week at Tanzhaus.
What does love mean in a world increasingly shaped by individualism, crises, and societal upheaval? Can love be used as a transformative force to question and reshape traditional social structures? How do our relationship models shape society – and vice versa? To what extent can love act not only as a personal, but also as a social and political force?
Lieben is the most personal text yet from the radically honest bestselling author and thinker Emilia Roig. A hopeful plea for contemporary forms of love and care. Emilia Roig stands for radical change. Whether demanding the end of racist oppression or the end of patriarchal marriage, she is driven by a longing for liberation and justice. Lieben is also a call for greater justice, because love should be for everyone. In a patriarchal society, however, romantic love claims all aspects of this form of connection for itself: desire, jealousy, intimacy, dependency, tenderness. In her first essay, Emilia Roig offers deep insights into her own biography while revolutionizing our understanding of love: as a transformative energy that connects us not only with our family and friends, but with all people, nature, and the cosmos. Her new book is an invitation to more solidarity, empathy, and courage.
Bookstore 1002F will be on site with a curated selection of books.
