MOVING TOWARDS ZERO #8: Mandy Abou Shoak im Gespräch mit Emilia Roig
With this event, Tanzhaus Zürich is launching a series of monthly discourse events with renowned experts from the fields of social and ecological sustainability. It is aimed at artists and society at large and sees creativity as an instrument for human and economic development, social change and as a response to the major global challenges of our time.
What does a just future look like - and what do we have to let go of today? In the first edition of MovingTowardsZero, politician and human rights activist Mandy Abou Shoak talks to French author and activist Emilia Roig about systemic change, personal responsibility and radical hope.
Art as a catalyst for intersectional sustainability
How can art and creativity contribute to a fairer and more sustainable world? At a time when climate crisis and social inequality are inextricably intertwined, we need new ways of understanding and acting. Art and creative practice offer powerful tools to make visible the complex connections between environmental problems and social power relations. An intersectional perspective connects the various forms of discrimination and disadvantage and opens up new insights into sustainability issues. Environmental justice is not possible without social justice.
Creative forms of expression make complex issues emotionally accessible and create new narratives for a sustainable future. From visual art and performance to participatory projects - creativity breaks through boundaries where words reach their limits. Art creates spaces for the perspectives of those most affected by environmental and climate injustice. Creative processes empower communities and invite genuine participation.
Be inspired by a perspective that brings together art and activism, creativity and critique, aesthetics and justice - for a world in which sustainability is possible for all.
