Joy Alpuerto Ritter studied dance at the Palucca University in Dresden. Based in Berlin, she is a dancer and award-winning choreographer known for her versatility and deep understanding of diverse movement styles. She has been touring worldwide with companies such as the Akram Khan Company, Wangramirez, Christoph Winkler, Heike Hennig, and Cirque du Soleil. Her passion for the communal and social dimensions of dance has fostered strong connections with Berlin’s subculture scene. Joy has gained international recognition both as a choreographer and as a teacher.

Joy’s training draws from a wide range of movement techniques—including traditional, classical, club, and contemporary dance—that she has explored over the past 30 years and developed into a distinctive fusion of movement qualities. The training focuses on grounded, dynamic physicality and rhythmic grooves that strengthen presence and virtuosity in space. It also emphasizes detailed articulation and isolation of body parts in connection with music and rhythm. Alongside exercises and choreographic material, participants will engage their own creativity through improvisational tasks, allowing them to delve deeper into different physical states and modes of expression within the given context.
