Turiya
Eine Performance in cooperation with Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst by New Kyd

Im Rahmen der Ausstellung Canción de Amor von Nicole L’Huillier zeigt New Kyd im Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst eine Performance. Mit Bewegung und Stimme erkundet New Kyd das Zuhören, Spüren und Verbinden.

For the performance, New Kyd transforms the artist’s installation The Dancefloor. into a space for shared experience. The starting point is Turiya. In Hindu philosophy, the term describes the fourth and highest stage of consciousness. Building on this idea, New Kyd explores different ways of listening, sensing and connecting. New Kyd draws on literature, Western and Eastern philosophy and spiritual traditions of the Yoruba from West Africa.

Conceived as a siren’s love song, the performance invites you to pause, listen closely and share a moment of openness and connection.

New Kyd looks down, both hands on their head. Blue striped shirt, grey mesh top, a pink scrunchie on one wrist.
Blurred movement against a dark background: a person raises their arms, hands and hair leaving streaks across the image.
A person kneels with outstretched arms and lowered gaze on red carpets. More colourful rugs lie in the background.
