Cuba Mami, Miss Rose

Hip isolations to various rhythms from the Afro-Caribbean diaspora are a natural source of strength and transformation for many racialized, female and queer bodies. The methodology used brings numerous health benefits while opening up an artistic diversity in which somatics and aesthetics interweave. This fusion effectively makes the practice a contemporary and experimental form.

Through the representation of the QTBIPoC* community, the project is also highly topical from a socio-political perspective.

In addition to dance mediation, the workshops (Twerking and Female Dancehall) are also about passing on the cultural practices that emerge from Black knowledge and are pre-colonial in their essence. The focus is on the political bodies (QTBIPoC*) as carriers of knowledge. The learning space is deliberately designed to be community-accessible and empowering.

Cuba Mami

Cuba Mami is a multidisciplinary dancer and singer with a focus on twerk. She is a member of the Twerk Up collective and has collaborated with artists such as Kidd Keo, Kalash Criminel, Jedet and Karol G. After her training as a Twerk teacher, she participated in numerous video clips and tours. Recently she was on the road with Karol G on their $TRIP LOVE TOUR. Cuba also works as a stripper in Miami.

Miss Rose

Miss Rose is a dancer from London and has been intensively involved in dancehall for nine years. With a Caribbean background, she has been dancing to dancehall rhythms since the age of five. Her aim is to unite the community, promote a deeper understanding of dancehall and contribute to the preservation of this culture. She has performed at numerous stages, festivals and carnivals - including Indigo Greenwich and Manchester Carnival - and collaborated with artists such as Skillibeng, Stormzy, Chi Ching Ching, La Lee, Popcaan and Shenseea.
