Songs & Dances for Vanishing Glaciers

To mark its 30th anniversary, Tanzhaus Zürich is hosting the MovingTowardsZero festival (June 26–28, 2026): a utopian space where art, activism and community come together. Songs & Dances for Vanishing Glaciers is part of MovingTowardsZero.

Songs & Dances for Vanishing Glaciers brings together two distinct artistic explorations of the glaciers melting away right before our eyes: Song of the Vanishing Glaciers by Coco Schwarz and a new choreographic production by Jamuna Mirjam Zweifel, featuring dancer Ariana Qizmolli.

Initiated by Song of the Vanishing Glaciers, a multi-part sound and installation project based on field recordings that Coco Schwarz collected directly on Swiss glaciers over a period of one and a half years.

Under the direction of dancer Ariana Qizmolli, we move to the electronic glacier sounds of Coco Schwarz. Following this, the research material from the project will be presented by Tanzhaus accomplice Jamuna Mirjam Zweifel: she explores the relationship with melting glaciers and examines them as sensitive yet vulnerable entities.
