SHARING: Attempt of Togetherness – Research

Based on her current work Ensemble, in which eight dancers form a heterogeneous and self-determined corps de ballet, Jenny Beyer has invited the dancer and choreographer Lucie Eidenbenz to test the parameters of equality and difference in a duet. During their two-week residency at Tanzhaus Zürich and in a dialogue with the dramaturg Anne Kersting, they question the reasons for getting in synch with each other and the movements that result from this. Lucie and Jenny have known each other since 2006 and have developed many projects as part of the artist initiative Sweet&Tender Collaborations. After a ten-year break, they have now begun research for a new collaborative Sweet&Tender project under the working title Attempt of togetherness, which will premiere in the 2024/25 season at Kampnagel in Hamburg.

The work-in-progress Sharing will be followed by a brief audience discussion.

Jenny Beyer

Jenny Beyer’s work, which is based at Kampnagel and K3 Tanzplan Hamburg, stands for the involvement and engagement of audience through regular open rehearsals. Since 2014, she and her team have been using the production processes as an opportunity to question the parameters of dance outreach and audience participation in order to discuss and redefine them in dialouge with the people who visit their rehearsals. Jenny Beyer laid her focus on collaborative work back in 2007 by co-founding the international artist initiative Sweet&Tender Collaborations. Since her residency at K3 Tanzplan in 2007, she has produced 14 touring pieces that have been shown at the Spring Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands, and the ImPulsTanz festival in Vienna, among other places. Since 2012, she has been the choreographer of the popular Hamburg-based hip-hop/electro band Deichkind.
