Sensing Bodies Writing

To mark its 30th anniversary, Tanzhaus Zürich is hosting the MovingTowardsZero festival (26–28 June 2026): a utopian space where art, activism and community come together. Sensing Bodies Writing is part of MovingTowardsZero.

Coming back to the body is rarely tranquil. Joy and pleasure, shame, pain, and liberation all show up. This special combined edition of DEARS READS & DEARS, WRITE invites you to dive back into your body through a shared practice of reading and writing.
We begin with a selection of texts from DEARS issue no. 6 – SENSING BODIES, read by their authors. Participants are then invited to tune into writing in resonance with the voices heard and the bodies present in the space. The sequence concludes with a spontaneous voicing of the texts written – for those who wish to share.

DEARS

DEARS is a platform for writing practices at the crossroads of art, poetry and experimental writing. Co-founded in 2020 by Delphine Chapuis Schmitz, Nicole Bachmann, and Robert Steinberger, DEARS takes the form of a print magazine and extends to readings, performances and participatory events with the DEARS READS and DEARS, WRITE series. DEARS navigates in-betweenness to explore a variety of situatedness, voices, and perspectives, allowing textualities that rely on fluidity and hybridity to meet and resonate with each other.
