Loverage: The Last Fear

To mark its 30th anniversary, Tanzhaus Zürich is hosting the MovingTowardsZero festival (26–28 June 2026): a utopian space where art, activism and community come together. Loverage: The Last Fear is part of MovingTowardsZero.

Loverage: The Last Fear is a 30‑minute sharing of an ongoing choreographic research and work‑in‑progress. The piece asks what moves us when fear no longer leads the way and introduces Loverage, a fusion of love and leverage, as a quiet yet powerful force that emerges through care, attention, and embodied connection. Through dance and live music, the work explores love and rage as intertwined energies that shape how we remain connected in times of crisis and uncertainty.

The choreography grows out of workshops with people from different backgrounds, and the movement is shaped by lived experiences and collective creation. Bodies respond to and support one another, offering a glimpse into a developing movement language where connection, care, and trust become sources of strength.

The Last Fear offers insight into a longer artistic process of Aly Khamees and his company Below the Skin, with the aim of developing the work into a full‑length stage production in the 2027/28 season.

Below the Skin / Aly Khamees

Below the Skin, founded in 2019 by Aly Khamees and Jelena Mair, is a dance company dedicated to transcultural exploration. Their productions shed light on the challenges of our time and celebrate the commonalities of humanity. Beyond entertainment, they aim to inspire dialogue, reflect on social issues and promote a deeper understanding of the environment. They transcend cultural and artistic boundaries, encourage co-creation and create performances that connect art and society. As accomplices of Tanzhaus Zürich, the company refines their techniques in open workshops and makes them accessible to a wide audience.
