Special

Gotgha, bela

Lids of Closed Eyes

A special listening night is here. The performers of ALL RISE, premiering at Tanzhaus on the 29th of April, musicians bela and Gotgha bring a 2-hour listening session of feedback, guttural voice, and noise compositions. Accompanying a short live noise performance from bela and Gotgha, the event continues to celebrate the release of Korean Love Sonnets (2026, Subtext Recordings) and Dawn of Days (2026, Kashev Tapes). The duality of noise is in question – how does loud noise both challenge and comfort at the same time? A dark space is provided. Under the presence of harsh rattles and resonances, different sensory impressions enter in place of the visual.

Gotgha

Gotgha (aka Luc Häfliger) is a Zurich-based composer, performer, and sound artist. Their practice revolves around the question of how we can recode space and bodies through sonic experience. Through the lens of noise, they explore sonic and performative states in which the boundaries between control and ecstasy become fluid. Their works seamlessly weave together composition and improvisation.

They are a founding member of doxa shroti collective. Gotgha’s work has been presented at les Urbaines, Drifts Festival Helsinki, Kunsthalle Zürich, Kunsthalle Baselland, Tanzhaus Zürich, ZKM Karlsruhe, and LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura.

bela

bela is a South Korean musician and performance artist based between Berlin and Prague. Traversing the stage and audience with guttural vocals, and movements in relation to feedbacks and electronics, bela tunes their closeness to identity, sexuality, lineage, and the mystical plane of existence. In this regard, their music and performance are asking to renew or expand the sense of locating around sounds and bodies within the social and celestial sphere. bela has shown their work at various festivals and venues including Berlin Atonal; Nowadays, NYC; Schauspielhaus Zürich; Cafe OTO, London; CTM Festival, Berlin; and Unsound Kraków.
