Masoumeh Jalalieh & Daniel Zimmermann

Carpet of Time

Carpet of Time is a dynamically unfolding dance performance that embodies resistance against repressive systems through abstract movements and sounds. Inspired by the geometric ornaments and the “pattern singing” of Iranian carpet weavers, the performers engage in an interplay between geometry and movement to explore how abstract compositions can make the dynamics of resonance, transformation, and the perception of time tangible. Within a 9x9-point grid, constant shifts give rise to ever-new, never-to-be-repeated constellations. In the tension between rigid structure and fluid connections unfolds the beauty of a non-hierarchical unity, where limited space enables boundless collective experience.

Masoumeh Jalalieh & Daniel Zimmermann

Masoumeh Jalalieh moves between body and image, interweaving memory into movement and movement into space and time. Born in Tehran and based in Vienna for several years, she explores rituals, transformation, and the cultural body in performative ways. Daniel Zimmermann works at the intersection of visual art, film, and action; his practice questions the meaning and sustainability of human activity. Together, they bring their individual approaches into dialogue, engage with contemporary issues, and open multilayered spaces of perception and resonance.
