Political Marketplace
Political Marketplace
A Happening Jam by New Kyd and Kymbali Williams
Political Marketplace is a “Happening Jam.” It’s an open dance and movement evening for everyone. There’s no fixed programme and no choreography. Instead, the evening takes shape together, in the moment. Everyone joins in however feels right for them.
The evening takes its cue from the Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich. In 1916, in the middle of the First World War, young artists gathered there. They protested against war and strict rules with nonsense, noise, and humour. Out of these wild, playful evenings grew the art movement Dada. That same spirit of play, absurdity, and defiance also shapes the Political Marketplace.
In practice, that means: there’s no fixed divide between audience and performers. Everyone can decide for themselves how they want to take part. You can dance or move however you like. You can speak or make sounds. You can listen or simply watch. You don’t need any previous experience. All that matters is that you’re there and join in, in your own way.
English will be spoken on the evening. But you don’t need to speak the language. All languages are welcome, and understanding also happens through movement and sound.
