Family Dance Workshop: Breaking

Back to overview

Family Dance Workshop: Breaking
The workshop series is led by Kwangsuk “Issue” Park and Hyosung «Cho» Joo

Breaking for young and old: In this Family Dance Workshop, children aged 6 and up and their adult companions can try out their first moves and get to know the dance style in a playful way.

Kwangsuk “Issue” Park and Hyosung “Cho” Joo introduce the basics of breaking through playful exercises. Simple movement tasks, partner exercises and a short group choreography create space to experiment and move together.

No previous experience is needed. Just a willingness to move, try things out and have fun together.

The workshop is inspired by the upcoming piece Das Schwingfest. In it, a dog, a goat, a cow and a marmot try their hand at traditional Swiss wrestling. Movements from breaking, Schwingen and the animal world come together – elements that also find their way into the workshop.

The “Family Dance Workshop: Breaking” is a project by eight2one, co-produced with Tanzhaus Zürich.
