Brückerei

Brückerei

This informal sharing offers a unique opportunity to witness the outcomes of an intensive two-week artistic laboratory bringing together the choreographers Antonello Tudisco, Ivana Balabanova, and Tilman O’Donnell, alongside a diverse group of professional and non-professional dancers.

Under the mentorship of the Swiss award-winning choreographer and performer Thomas Hauert, the participants of BRÜCKEREI #3 explored improvisation as a tool for both creation and performance. Through movement experiments, collaborative research, and spontaneous composition, they investigated how dance can emerge in the moment and how choreographic ideas can be developed collectively.

Rather than presenting a finished performance, this sharing opens a window onto the often-hidden world of artistic creation and offers a chance to experience dance as a living process in motion. The audience is invited to encounter emerging ideas, unfinished materials, and choreographic discoveries in their raw and vibrant form. Fragments, questions, unexpected connections, and moments of transformation come together to reveal how dance is imagined, negotiated, and brought to life.

BRÜCKEREI is a biennial, mentor-supported choreographic development platform that was initiated in 2022 by TANZBACKSTUBE under the artistic direction of Romain Guion and Caroline Finn. As the name suggests, BRÜCKEREI aims to build bridges — artistic, human, institutional, pedagogical and geographic. Its task is to question and advance how, and with whom (and indirectly for whom), choreographic works are conceived. To this end, BRÜCKEREI fosters a process-oriented mindset and artistic exchange within a welcoming working culture, one in which inspiration is encouraged, failure is accepted, and experimentation is fostered.
