Jamuna Mirjam Zweifel

Residency guest 23/24

For some time now, Jamuna has used the question of ‚where the body ends and the world begins‘ as a starting point for practices and springboard for new questions. As a dancer, concept developer, and movement researcher, she explores how we, as human beings, can digest and transform information. At the same time, Jamuna often considers non-human actors in artistic processes in order to work on an alternative future. She addressed these themes in the spring of 2023 during the three-month virtual residency (RE)SHAPE with Chilean artist Claudia Gonzalez Godoy, which inspired her to create a solo piece, to be presented in March 2024 at the museum Kunst(zeug)haus Rapperswil, Switzerland in the frame of Date to Dance. Since 2019, Jamuna has been working with the Zurich-based collective The Field, which collaborates closely with Tanzhaus Zürich, and the interdisciplinary alliance Zookunft.Project, which she co-founded. In addition to developing short pieces and interdisciplinary research with international collaborators and a long-term production titled NULL, she presented her own solo piece, Encapsulation, at short piece platforms. Jamuna is currently working on the dance and sound production Holes with Léa Jullien, Maureen Zollinger and former Bachelor students from Höhere Fachschule für Zeitgenössischen und Urbanen Bühnentanz (HF ZUB) in Zurich. Holes will be shown in June 2024 at Theater am Gleis in Winterthur, Switzerland. Together with The Field, Jamuna has performed in works by Meg Stuart, Isabel Lewis, Simone Aughterlony, amongst others. In 2019, she received the cultural promotion award from the Canton of Solothurn in the field of dance, as well as the Azeiger Cultural Promotion Award Solothurn. In the same year, she successfully completed her education at the HF ZUB. In summer 2023, she received a scholarship for the DanceWEB Program at the ImPulsTanz festival in Vienna. Jamuna currently lives in Zurich.
