Professional Training Contemporary

Jenna Hendry

In the course of the week Jenna Hendry will propose different ways of initiating a (dance) working day. Based on her experience as a professional dancer and a long post-injury rehabilitation, she now finds useful to variate her warm-ups both in intensity and approach. This method can particularly be helpful for interpreters in the freelance scene who must be ready to jump from one project to another and to engage in completely different artistic universes and physicalities.

Throughout the week participants will engage in playful effort with exercises that push their fitness and stimulate them to dive into their dancing bodies in different ways. Touch and physical contact with fellow dancers will also be used.

The following questions will guide Jenna Hendry in the construction of her:

  • How do I get myself into an awake, ready and creative state for a day?
  • How do I dose & recycle my energy throughout a working week / a whole season of dancing?
  • How do I keep fit during extended working periods as well as during periods of rest?
  • How do I keep my body ready to engage in and serve a variety of different artists/artistic approaches?
  • How do I share my energy with my working colleagues?
