Professional Training Contemporary

Maria Francesca Scaroni

This movement session uses journeys into the materiality of the body to expand somatic awareness and to playfully connect us with our inherent dignity, with the longing to belong and the sense of our commitment to ourselves. We start with an initial puzzle that zooms into a body system or part, departing from the physical body. From there I usually improvise a script to allow for movement to emerge, slipping in and out of fictional scenarios, alone, alone-together and together-together. Sometimes touch is involved, definitely breath, energy cultivation/distribution and serious playfulness. Because this is a movement playground, which has healing after-effects and promises both grounding and cathartic moments. I am conscious of nervous system regulation and of the fact that every body/person is a biography and is its own best expert. This class is for dancers, movers, body psychonauts and for people who seek enhanced physical awareness – while being a place to be shape-full and expressive with the body.
