ZÜRICH TANZT: CURRENT CURRENTS

CURRENT CURRENTS seeks how to facilitate the coexistence of different individuals without them necessarily forming a group. Through a collage of intimate tableaux in which performed actions mix with documentary scenes, the five dancers use their bodies and the song that traverses them to evoke current social issues.

CURRENT CURRENTS strives to go against the current of the perpetual spectacle making and hyper-exposition of oneself by proposing moments of non-representation, calm, tenderness and fragility. And if the sum of the parts was greater than the whole?

The shows from 3 to 5 May will take place as part of ZÜRICH TANZT. Tickets for these dates are available via ZÜRICH TANZT. It is worth buying a single ticket if you only want to attend this event. If you are planning to attend several events from the ZÜRICH TANZT programme, we recommend a festival, weekend or day pass

Claire Dessimoz

The works of Lausanne choreographer and dancer Claire Dessimoz centre around community and social challenges. How can we live together while leaving room for diversity, mistakes and disagreement? Claire Dessimoz creates precise dances of the "small and subtle" with which she wants to evoke a fruitful kind of doubt in the audience. Her pieces joyfully shake up supposed certainties and invite us to allow moments of letting go, emptiness and hesitation in the face of life's complexity.
Claire Dessimoz was a member of the junior national rhythmic gymnastics squad and later studied architecture (EPFL) and dance (LABAN).
