Sharing: Hive & Venas Velas

During their residency at Tanzhaus Zürich, Pietro Marullo and his company INSIEME IRREALI will be working on two pieces: HIVE – our hydrological need of cosmic lines and VENAS VELAS. The work-in-progress sharing will be followed by a short audience discussion.

HIVE – our hydrological need of cosmic lines
What can be done when a member of a group becomes a disturbing element that could harm the survival of the community itself? And how to channel internal violence towards common symbolic objectives?
HIVE is a journey into the bowels of our intolerance to create common horizons. In the piece, six dancers represent humanity born from a mysterious matrix. They must relive the experience of separation up to the critical moment where they overcome themselves. This project was inspired by the theories of Réné Girard and by Michelangelo's masterpiece Tondo Doni that depicts the holy family and poses the question on what we can base our image of the human family today.

VENAS VELAS
Which lost cosmic visions can we recover, for example from pre-columbian cultures? Visions that can help us face and understand our ow reality? Our world seems to be led by forces that transform reality into an un-reality of information, where everything and everybody is just a 'variant' of an infinite combination of possibilities. We have lost the most precious enlightenment from ancient cultures: the idea that there is something that we can't measure, we can't grasp.
"My will is to create a bridge with those lost cultures, entering in a dialogue with contemporary artists from Latino and South America," Pietro says. "Such artists are looking for their own roots: Cecile Vicuna working on the ancient language 'quipu', Ayrson Eraclito researching colonialist wounds; Helio Oiticica who focussed his research on colors to construct a new reality."
