Tanzhaus young: SCHILLERN

An Approach to Alieanation

If your subconscious were a room, what would it look like? What would it sound like? What would it smell like? And who would have access to this place? By entering the stage, the audience finds itself in a collective subconscious – a vivid, mysterious, complex and contradictory place where all things repressed are given space.

SCHILLERN is an exploration of the influence our subconscious has on relationships. Seven creatures, embodied by young artists, meander through a dazzling space. They trace the interpersonal and give expression to the unspoken. Dance, text and sound form an overall composition that oscillates between an archaic abyss and humorous lightness.

Cie. WILD LIFE

Cie. WILD LIFE was founded in 2021 at Tanzhaus Zürich. It is the first independent company for contemporary dance in the canton of Zurich, in which professional stage artists work together with a cast of young ensemble members. The company's productions are intended as an ongoing series that artistically addresses current socially relevant issues. Cie. WILD LIFE is a new format for talented young people from 16 to 24 years of age with previous artistic training who are interested in the independent dance and theatre scene as a future professional field and who are prepared to invest time, commitment, responsibility and energy in rehearsals. The young artists work independently on scenic material, participate in as many areas of process-oriented artistic development as possible, get to know the institution Tanzhaus Zürich at close quarters and dance and perform on stage. They are accompanied by theatre professionals from the fields of project management, directing, choreography, dramaturgy, authorship, sound and lighting design, equipment, stage technology and communication. Cie. WILD LIFE thus closes a gap between courses, amateur stage clubs, self-organised groups and the professional world. It networks professionals of the independent scene, promotes young artists and reaches a young audience.
