In an increasingly visually dominated culture full of new forms of interpersonal communication, our perception of eroticism and sexuality has changed. Social media and dating apps present us with a version of love that has become so entwined with our everyday lives that it’s hard to imagine alternative designs of desire. The third part of Kiriakos Hadjiioannou’s choreographic series Higher States is a multisensory ode to Eros – or what is still recognizable of him. In this piece, the Greek choreographer attempts a new vocabulary of eroticism and translates into dance the more unexplored aspects of interpersonal relationships.
