Friday is the opening of the Villains Ball Weekend, a whole weekend dedicated to Vogue and Ballroom. This performance and social movement was created in the late 1980s by the queer, trans, Black and Latin community in the USA. Since then, the culture has spread worldwide, absorbing local influences along the way – including in Switzerland, where Ivy Monteiro has helped shape the scene for years. Together with Hausvrau, Ivy Monteiro now brings an international lineup of major names from the ballroom world to Tanzhaus Zürich, making it a center for voguing and ballroom in Central Europe.
