Maria Ferreira Silva

Maria Ferreira Silva is a dance artist born in Portugal and living in Brussels. Her artistic journey started at the age of six, performing in the auditorium near her home in a suburb of Lisbon. She holds a dance degree from the National Conservatory of Lisbon, one from P.A.R.T.S. School for Contemporary Dance in Brussels and an Master in New Performative Practices from the Stockholm University of the Arts SKH. Currently, she is developing her choreographic work, unfolding the notion of plasticity from a performative and choreographic aspect in the works of Maud le Pladec and Trajal Harrel. Maria defines her artistic practice as a porous container that offers space for a vibrant ecosystem to emerge where different practices, roles and contexts nurture her engagement with the dance field.
