Manel Salas

Manel Salas Palau was born in Barcelona in 1980. After studying to become a sports teacher, Manel Salas Palau began a dance career with performances, teaching and choreography in hip hop. An interest in dance led Manel Salas Palau to also study mime, Butoh, acrobatics and improvisation. In 2008, Manel Salas Palau received a BA in Contemporary Dance from Codarts Rotterdam Dance Conservatory. Since then, Manel Salas Palau has worked with various companies such as Paper Tiger, Julyen Hamilton, David Zambrano, Àngels Margarit, Arno Schuitemaker, Edita Braun, Cobosmika Company and Ramon Oller. Since 2015, Manel Salas Palau has lived in Switzerland, creating original works and collaborating with artists such as Cie ZeitSprung, Jens Biederman, Jasmine Morand, Oliver Dähler, Corsin Gaudenz and Dominique Girod. Over the past ten years, Manel Salas Palau has focused his artistic practice on the art of instant composition, sharing his creative process with musicians, filmmakers, circus artists, architects, doctors and NGOs. In 2019, Manel Salas Palau co-founded Compagnie Wendig together with artist and doctor Philip Amann. Manel Salas Palau teaches and presents his own work internationally, including in China, Russia, Spain, the Netherlands, France and Switzerland.
