As a space for the creation and production of contemporary dance, the Tanzhaus Zurich offers artists the surroundings and support to allow them to delve into a topic, to research, to exchange inspiration, to follow specific ideas and finally to realise a project and to present it to an audience. Just as each artistic vision is unique, so are the requirements for groundbreaking, concentrated and creative work. We therefore develop a personalised package for each individual, which can take one of the following forms:
Co-production
Rehearsal residency, generally with co-funding, with the aim of presenting a premiere and further performances in the Tanzhaus. Requests for co-productions for the first Half of 2013 until the 10th July 2012 possible.
Residency
Work and research residence without the intention of a premiere / performance.

The possibility to develop ideas and experiments together with an expert and to present them to an audience.
FreiRaum – The Choreographic Laboratory
Space for experimenting in groups. The Tanzhaus provides a room for several hours over a period of several evenings. The FreiRaum is advertised publicly and anyone who is interested can take part.
The Tanzhaus Zurich offers this possibility primarily to freelance contemporary dance professionals, and to newcomers in particular. An exchange between different creative forces from different regions, countries and genres is crucial to the development of the freelance dance scene in Zurich and should therefore be made promoted and nutured.
As well as the Tanzhaus, the Theaterhaus Gessneralle and the Fabriktheater (Rote Fabrik) also offer residencies for dance professionals in Zurich.
From September 2009, applications for research grants and sponsoring for specific pieces can be made to the city of Zurich (Tanzförderung der Stadt Zürich).
